1. Important Dates

Candidates must adhere to the timeline set by the AIIMS Nagpur administration. The crucial date for computing age and experience is the closing date of the application.

2. Department-Wise Vacancy Details

AIIMS Nagpur has announced 56 vacancies distributed across 26 broad and super-specialty departments. The category-wise distribution includes UR-20, OBC-14, SC-11, ST-07, and EWS-04. If no application is received under the EWS category, UR candidates may be considered. Furthermore, 4% of total posts are horizontally reserved for PwD candidates.

3. Eligibility Criteria (Age & Education)

Candidates must meticulously review the essential qualifications and age brackets required for the Senior Resident posts before submitting their fees.

A. Upper Age Limit Constraints

The upper age limit to apply for the Senior Resident post is 45 years as on the closing date (08/05/2026). The age limit for candidates with DM/M.Ch degree applying for these posts will also be 45 years.

Age Relaxations Applicable:

• SC / ST Candidates: 5 Years
• OBC Candidates: 3 Years
• Persons with Disability (PwD): 5 years for General, 8 years for OBC, and 10 years for SC/ST category candidates.

B. Essential Educational Qualifications

The fundamental requirement across all broad disciplines is a Post Graduate Medical Degree (MD/MS/DNB) in the respective discipline from a recognized University/Institute. Furthermore, valid NMC/MCI/MMC/DCI/State Registration is completely mandatory before joining.

Qualifications for Super Speciality Disciplines (*):

Note: Candidates possessing a DM/M.Ch in the respective super-specialty discipline may also apply. For Trauma & Emergency (#), MD in Emergency Medicine, MD General Medicine, MS General Surgery, MD Anaesthesiology, MD Respiratory Medicine, or MS Orthopaedics is accepted.

4. Salary Structure & Tenure

• Salary / Pay Scale: Selected Senior Residents fall under Group 'A'. They will receive a basic pay of Rs. 67,700/- (Level-11, Cell No. 01 As per 7th CPC). They are also entitled to usual allowances including Non-Practicing Allowance (NPA) if applicable.
• Residency Scheme Tenure: The post of SR is a tenure post for a total duration of 03 years under the Government of India Residency Scheme. If the candidate has previously worked as a Senior Resident in any Govt. medical institution (regular or ad-hoc), that duration will be deducted from the 3 years offered. Applicants who have already completed 3 years of Senior Residency are not eligible.

6. Selection Process & Interview

• Selection Method: The final selection will be made purely on the basis of a personal interview conducted at AIIMS Nagpur.
• Shortlisting: In the scenario where a large number of applications are received, the administration will shortlist candidates for the interview based on their qualifications, additional qualifications, experience, or by conducting a written test.
• Logistics: The exact date of the interview will be notified directly on the AIIMS Nagpur website. The interview may spill over to the next day; hence, candidates should be prepared to stay available. No separate individual intimation will be sent to shortlisted candidates.
